Feeling lighter after losing 11 inches...

...Of HAIR that is!

And Melody even got to cut it!

I donated my hair to Locks of Love in 2001. Up until that time I had always had REALLY long hair. I ended up donating 15 inches that time and getting a perm, but the hair was still not shorter than my shoulder. I've gotten it cut a few times since, but only a few inches never anything really drastic.

I've been thinking about getting a new cut for about a month now, but I have been nervous. I decided that if I was going to get a new style I should donate again. At least my hair could be used by someone else that needed it more than me! I've been going back and forth for the past week about whether I could do it or not. Yesterday, I saw pictures of Julia B. who just donated her hair. Her hair looked GREAT. SO... it gave me the courage to do it myself! I made the appointment yesterday and got it cut this morning! (I couldn't wait long or I'd lose the courage!)

I asked Melody to come along for moral support. (Roderick was in class, but he knew what I planned to do.) She loved the idea and helped squelch some of my nerves yesterday. I probably wouldn't have gone through with it had it not been for her encouragement! The hair dresser even asked her to cut the biggest pony tail. She LOVED it! It was great to have a photographer to chronicle the event. I wanted to make sure my family in CO could experience the event with me. I didn't tell my family for fear they'd talk me out of it. Hopefully Mom doesn't have a heart attack when she see's this! (She's always loved my long hair.)

I had to wait until Roderick came home from class it seemed to take FOREVER! Then when he was on the way home I hid in the bedroom. The wait was horrible, BUT he really likes the new style. ("Maybe even better than the old! ")

  1. AAAHHHH!! It's short!! But I love it. I wouldn't have talked you out of cutting it!! I really have the longest hair now. :) Hey, should I cut mine now?? NO! Don't think I would look good in short hair like you and Jen.

  2. It is cute!! Wow you are so brave...I should have gone with you to get my hair cut as well. I was have been wanting to get my haircut as well and thinking maybe more on the shorter side, but I will probably chicken out. Yours is very cute though!!!

  3. I didn't realize you had a blog. I had clicked on your name when you had first commented on ours awhile ago, and I saw that you didn't have a blog. I just checked today and saw you had a blog. Now, I'll have to go back through and catch up on your life. This was a great post to jump in at, though.

I really like your new haircut and how fun that you took a friend and got pitures!
